The management team here goes above and beyond the Call of Duty to accommodate the comfort of their guests. Out of the lodging choices available in John day I recommend this one due to the nature of their employees. Usually with the great deal on discount hotel lodging it comes with a higher price of people that act in a manner that is not quite normal luckily this element is not present at this Motel very refreshing

I have very much enjoyed my stay at the Budget 8 in John Day Oregon. The rooms are nice and it would seem that "Dan" the owner, has done much to upgrade the rooms. I stayed in both a one and a two bdrm. Both were nice and surprisingly they both cost the same. The only complaint really was the wifi signal....completely wonkey. Sometimes there is one sometimes not But John Day seems to be the only place if been in this country where sprint dont work so wifi is kinda important. Anyway great place. Great people I give the Budget 8 in John Day Oregon 4 stars.

An overnight stay on my Vespa trip, I discovered this motel with clean, cozy and well-maintained rooms. The manager and his wife are both happy, friendly, helpful people and they sure know how to run a business. Highly recommend staying here in John Day, Oregon. You will not be disappointed.

A decent place to stay. The room was fairly clean, but smelled overwhelmingly of air freshener. We had a coffee pot, but no coffee, and one towel for two people. But the front desk guy was really nice and the service there was very good. The room was quiet. Overall, not a bad experience.

Quaint little spot to rest if you’re going this route. Rooms are dated but everything worked fine. Staff was very accommodating. You can park right outside your room which makes loading and unloading very easy. The area is safe for families, but we did have some neighbors next door drinking beer and talking late into the night. I would stay again if passing through.

Cozy clean room and the front desk lady was ever so cheery and helpful. Got to watch TV with lots of channels. Love the bar soaps because they smelled so good. Had a microwave, fridge with freezer, and coffee pot. Plenty of outlets in the room too. It was also very quiet. I stayed there a few years ago. It's in a convenient location. Dollar General, Timber's Bistro which has awesome coffee and the breakfast burritos are the bomb, Bare Bones tobacco, soda, beer and wine, Ace Hardware, NAPA parts, Chester's grocery store. It's close to businesses and not far from the restaurants. Great location right next to the highway. I like that it's well lit and has chairs and little tables outside for just enjoying the outdoors or a smoke. Laundry and ice machine available too. Friendly staff greeted me upon turning in my key. Thank you for a pleasant stay!

Staying for an extended amount of time (husbands work) it's one of the only places in John Day that offers weekly rates which is a plus for us. They accept pets which is another plus for us as our dog travels with us everywhere! Very nice spacious and clean rooms with on-site laundry ice machine and drink machine. All the rooms are non smoking they do privide chairs n tables outside each room with an ashtray for smokers. Its a small independently owned motel the husband and wife are very nice and accommodating. There are a couple of picnic tables if you'd like to (and have your own) grill out AND a few beautiful deer visit almost every night to feed around the property which is lovely to watch!

I booked this place and then read the reviews after booking. Let me clear up a couple of things for people and other reviewers. First, there is a review that is a personal attack on the owners. Having interacted with the owners when I arrived, the people I met were very kind people and apologetic about a small issue at check-in. Nothing resembling the people the review asserts. This motel is the cheapest place, by far, to stop and take a rest if you're coming from Central Oregon to Boise or from Boise to Bend/Eugene/wherever. This area and the surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful drives and worth taking your time. Go stop at Painted Hills and thank me later. So, this motel gives a great price, in a great area, and it's across the street from a Dollar Tree -- so your food needs are met. This place is a bed, fridge, ac/heat, shower, microwave, internet, TV, and a place to rest and take your time driving through the mountains -- because it's a gorgeous drive. So, think of it more like a cabin. And, John Day has some damn good local businesses that are worth checking out if you do stay the night.
